Lucy was born in 1962 and is based in Somerset. Having spent much of her childhood in South Africa, Lucy has taken significant inspiration from its light, culture and landscape and her work is a product of two culture’s: the Cape and England. Lucy’s father, Philip Erskine, was also a landscape painter, and the two often worked alongside each other. Lucy’s paintings focus on landscapes while her etchings explore the relationship between animals, children playing and athletes. Lucy concentrates on traditional still lives and landscapes, working mainly en plein air. Exploring the varying light of these scenes, she creates sensitive and intense compositions with rich colours, shapes and textures. Lucy has exhibited at the Royal Academy in London three times.
