Lizzie Pikesley initially studied illustration, but credits most of her art education to her later gained art history degree. The daughter of the painter Richard Pikesley, P.N.E.A.C., Lizzie has been taught and influenced by her father’s work whilst developing her style as a printmaker.
Lizzie says of her work, 'I love the ‘reveal’ that comes with printmaking, and even more so with monotypes. Without the repetition of editions, every print is a surprise in its own right. I enjoy working somewhere between print and paint, especially with non-traditional materials for print, that are perhaps a bit unruly but more painterly.
To me, the appeal of print is that with so many ways of making an image, the methods can be combined or manipulated to suit, I print by hand, or using a hand-made etching press, made from a reclaimed mangle by my Husband.
I live and work in Hampshire but was born and raised in Dorset and am largely influenced both by the wilder and the more cultivated rural landscapes in both counties.'
