He worked for several years in London as a designer, before becoming a freelance painter, illustrator and printmaker. He now lives and works in Dorset.

In 1988 the Royal Mail commissioned him to produce a set of stamps to commemorate the Spanish Armada. The Royal Collection, St. James's Palace commissioned him to design ranges of china for the three Royal Palaces, Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and The Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Other clients also include The National Trust, the Duchy of Cornwall, Highgrove, and Crabtree & Evelyn.

He has exhibited many times at The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. According to Frank, the one thing that connects all his work is his love of detail and tradition.
