Born in 1961 in Whalley, Lancashire, he never expected to become an artist. In rural Lancashire he sold animal health products alongside farming equipment. It wasn't until he broke his elbow that he began to paint whilst recuperating and found to his delight he had a talent and very much enjoyed it. His first few exhibitions were so well received by the public that he turned professional in 1991 after only a year of painting.
Alistair painted just landscapes at first, until he found his niche and style in sporting art - finding the subject not only more challenging but more enjoyable to paint. He has become one of Britain's foremost sporting and landscape artists, with his realistic portrayals of fishing, shooting and the landscape around him, his work is hugely desirable and much sought after by collectors worldwide. He has had many one man shows and has exhibited with some of the country's leading galleries.
He still lives and works in the Ribble Valley where he finds many sources of inspiration.
