DAVID SAWYER R.B.A.

Born in 1961, David Sawyer graduated from Canterbury College of Art in1983. Following his graduation he spent the next four years travelling throughout Europe studying History of Art and painting.

Following his return to London in 1987, he soon established himself as an artist with a number of solo annual exhibitions in London. He writes regularly for the national art press and his articles on painting technique are well known amongst his peers.

David works in the tradition of the British landscape painters with a style that evokes the confident brush strokes of Edward Seago and the Norwich School.
In 1997 he won the Katherine William-Powlett Watercolour Prize in the 50th Chelsea Art Society Exhibition and in September 2003 David was commissioned to paint three pictures for the state rooms of the Cunard liner Queen Mary II.

David travels extensively through the UK and abroad; from each trip gaining further inspiration and insight from the landscape and cities of Europe. He works from his studios in the Ariege area of Southwest France and England.
