Lisa was born in 1981. Since graduating from Middlesex University in 2005 with a Fine Art Degree her studio has been the site of an exploration of traditional figurative subject matter, investigated through drawings, watercolours, oils and linocut prints that are both original and heartfelt. Her work echoes the spirit of many of the Modern British artists that she considers her inspiration, including Eric Ravilious, Leon Underwood, and the Grosvenor School Printmakers. Infused with these influences is a nod to the decorative and lyrical designs of Japanese printmakers such as Utagawa Hiroshige. Lisa Takahashi's drive to make art is founded in a desire to create visual elegies to everyday living, to discover a point of inspiration out in the world and use it as the basis for a design that consists of strong shapes and harmonious colour. Lisa has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The RBA and the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers as well as in group shows across Europe.
